The Brief – Underage Sales and Anti Social Behaviour
You are currently in the 6th form at your school/college and have been asked by your Head of Year to “chair” the 6th form Social Committee group who are organising the Lower 6th’s annual end of term party.
Six other students, who were asked by the Head of Year to join the “party” committee, will be assisting you with the organisation required for the event. You, as Chairperson on the committee are accountable to your Form Tutor. He/she has asked an officer from the local Trading Standards Department and a Police Officer from the Local constabulary to help you with any queries you may have with regard to underage sales and anti social behaviour.
At the last group meeting you gave the other six students various tasks to complete and today you have asked them to report back with their findings. Each student, in turn, will report back to you and they will be asking you various questions and giving you various dilemmas relating to the task they were given and their findings from undertaking this task.
Each student’s dilemma/question will arrive as a message in your inbox approximately every five to ten minutes – so work quickly – and remember – we are watching you!!!
To find out how you should respond to each students dilemma/questions, you should research your answers by clicking on the various links (eg. "What is my role in this scenario").
You need to consider the legal and community issues.
You will then need to let “talkingshop” Head Office know how you are going to respond to each student. “talkingshop” Head Office is your teams “expert” who will help you through this scenario. Your expert is either a Trading Standards Officer or a Police Officer who deals with these sorts of issues on a daily basis. All the answers to each student’s dilemma are within the relevant links so do not expect your “expert” to give you the answers. You will need to send a response for each students dilemma to your “expert” by clicking on “New” and typing a message to your expert.
Please remember to start your response off with the relevant key word that you will be given in each message (eg. Cider). If you get stuck and need help from the "talkingshop" Head Office (your “expert”), then you can use one of your three lifelines. You use a lifeline in the same way as you send an answer – by writing a message in the purple message box. Start your message with the word "LIFELINE". "Talkingshop" Head Office will get back to you as soon as possible with a response to your query. This may take a few minutes so don’t hang around. Get on with dealing with another student or doing some more research.
